KING COUNTY, WA — A 40-year-old woman died Thursday morning after being struck by a Sounder commuter train south of downtown Kent, according to Kent Reporter.

The fatal incident occurred on the tracks along Railroad Avenue South, near West Crow Street and just south of East Willis Street, at around 7:11 a.m.

Authorities said an early investigation indicates the female pedestrian walked into the path of a northbound train and was hit.

The event prompted officials to cancel a departure from Tacoma, and multiple other trains were delayed for more than an hour.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to publicly identify the victim after an investigation.

No other information has been disclosed at this time.
