News UPDATE: Pedestrian hit, hurt by driver while crossing road in Tacoma’s South End

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was injured in a pedestrian collision Wednesday night while crossing an intersection in Tacoma’s South End area, reports The News Tribune.

Tacoma Police Department said the incident occurred at the corner of 72nd Street and Pacific Avenue at approximately 7:50 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a driver was heading northbound in the right lane of Pacific Avenue when the pedestrian crossed from the south side of 72nd Street and was struck as they entered the car’s path.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. As of this writing, they were last listed in stable condition.

Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

A section of Pacific Avenue was shut down for multiple hours during an investigation. At this time, impairment is not a suspected factor in the accident.
