News: Two killed in wrong-way collision on I-5 near Everett

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — Two people died early Saturday morning after a two-vehicle crash involving a DUI suspect on Interstate 5 near Everett, reports KOMO News.

The fatal accident occurred on the southbound lanes just south of 41st Street, near Lowell Park, at about 1:00 a.m.

According to Washington State Patrol, a 22-year-old man was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when he struck a Volkswagen Beetle head-on.

The driver of the victim vehicle, a 67-year-old man, and his passenger, a 65-year-old woman, both died from their injuries at the scene.

WSP said the wrong-way driver was suspected of DUI. He was taken to Providence Hospital with undisclosed injuries and was expected to be booked into Snohomish County Jail. He faces charges of vehicular homicide.
