JEFFERSON COUNTY, WA — A 31-year-old Bremerton man was injured Thursday evening in a two-vehicle accident involving a transit bus near the Hood Canal Bridge in Port Ludlow, reports The Leader.

Washington State Patrol said the accident happened at the highway’s intersection with Paradise Bay Road, just west of the bridge.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was behind the wheel of a 2000 Saturn SL sedan going westbound when he accelerated and hit the front of a 2020 Gillig G27 transit bus as it pulled onto the highway. The impact of the crash caused the driver to lose control of his car as it slid sideways across the intersection and traveled into a ditch on the east side of the road, where it rolled onto its roof.

The driver of the Saturn suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to St. Michael Medical Center-Silverdale

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

According to WSP, the causing driver is expected to be charged for speeding.
