KING COUNTY, WA — A 54-year-old woman was fatally injured Sunday, February 6, after a two-vehicle accident on a State Route 167 exit ramp in northwest Auburn, according to Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened on the offramp from SR-167 northbound to 15th Street Northwest, in the city’s Christopher area, shortly after 10:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by WSP indicates the woman was driving a blue 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound when failed to brake or reduce speed as she took the ramp. The Chevrolet struck the back of a red 2016 Ford F-150 that was waiting at a traffic light at the end of the ramp.

The driver of the Chevrolet was critically injured and rushed to Valley Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

Her four juvenile passengers, aged 5 to 8, were not reported injured.

The driver of the Ford pickup, a 31-year-old man, was also not hurt.

A WSP press memo indicated that following the crash and prior to her death, the driver of the Chevrolet had been charged with DUI and reckless endangerment.
