PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Two people were rescued Tuesday afternoon after their vehicle traveled off a road and over a steep embankment in Tacoma’s West End, reports King 5.

Tacoma Fire crews responded to the scene in the 6600 block of North Marinera Street, near Vassault Park, at around 3:30 p.m.

Authorities said a couple were in the car as it backed out of their driveway and reversed too far.

Crews were able to safely extract one occupant back onto the street by 4:30 p.m. Shortly before 5:00 p.m., the second occupant was safely raised from the wreckage.

According to Tacoma Fire, neither victim was seriously hurt, but it was unclear whether or not they were transported to a hospital.

The vehicle was impounded after it was removed from the embankment.
