News: Pedestrian fatally hit by snowplow on SR-9 near Deming

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA — One person died Tuesday night after being struck by a Whatcom County Public Works snowplow on State Route 9 south of Deming, according to KIRO 7 News.

Officials with the Whatcom County Public Works Department said the fatal incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m., during a snowstorm.

The circumstances behind the event are unclear, but authorities said the driver of the snowplow immediately stopped the vehicle and got out to assist the victim.

No further details have been disclosed at this time, but an investigation was in progress.
