News: Driver killed after truck rolls off SR-303 overpass in Silverdale

KITSAP COUNTY, WA — A 54-year-old man died Monday morning after a single-vehicle rollover collision off State Route 303 in northeast Silverdale, reports Kitsap Sun.

The fatal crash happened on a stretch of SR-303 over Silverdale Way at around 7:17 a.m.

According to Washington State Patrol, the man driving the truck southbound when he tried to speed past another vehicle and struck a patch of ice on the roadway. The contact caused the truck to hit and roll over a Jersey barrier before falling down onto Silverdale Way below.

WSP confirmed the driver of the truck died from his injuries at the scene.

His passenger, a 21-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, though it was unclear whether or not he was taken to a hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

Authorities shut down Silverdale Way NW for multiple hours during an investigation.

At this time, icy roads are said to have contributed to the crash.
