SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — Two people were injured early Tuesday in a suspected DUI collision involving an abandoned vehicle in northeast Lynnwood, reports Lynnwood Today.

Washington State Patrol said the crash happened on the southbound lanes of I-5 near 164th Street Southwest shortly after midnight.

An early investigation indicates a 28-year-old Bothell man was driving a red Nissan Xterra southbound when the vehicle veered off the roadway and hit an abandoned Hyundai Sonata on the right shoulder.

The driver and his passenger, a 38-year-old Mountlake Terrace woman, were transported to Everett’s Providence Medical Center. No information has been disclosed on the severity of their condition. WSP says neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

An investigation remains ongoing, but drugs and/or alcohol are suspected factors in the crash.
