PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A semi-truck lost its cargo Friday afternoon, blocking nearly all southbound lanes on Interstate 5 in Tacoma’s South End, according to Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred near South 84th Street and was first reported by Washington State Department of Transportation at 2:08 p.m.

It was not immediately unclear whether a collision was involved, but authorities said a semi transporting scaffolding equipment lost its load on the roadway.
No injuries were reported in the event.
Only one lane remained open to traffic as crews worked to clear the scene. Authorities also shut down the onramp from 84th Street to I-5 southbound.
By 2:16 p.m., the southbound interstate had become backed up to 38th Street.
