PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 70-year-old man was fatally injured Sunday morning when he was hit by a suspected DUI driver while walking his dog in Fircrest, according to The News Tribune.

Fircrest police responded to the scene in the 700 block of Claremont Street at around 6:15 a.m.

According to authorities, a woman was driving a 2007 Dodge Magnum eastbound when she collided with a parked car, which was pushed into the victim. The impact of the crash caused the Dodge to travel across the street while the parked car landed in nearby bushes.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital before he was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Police said the woman, who was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, was expected to be evaluated for suspected impairment.

No further information has been released.
