KING COUNTY, WA — Two 19-year-olds died early Sunday morning after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 near Tukwila’s Southcenter area, according to Renton Reporter.
Washington State Patrol said the fatal collision occurred on the northbound lanes of the interstate near the Southcenter shopping center at around 12:19 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows the driver, a Seattle resident, was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to spin out on the roadway. The driver’s side of the vehicle was broadside by an attenuator barrier before it flipped onto its roof.
WSP troopers arrived to find the wrecked car upside down on the barrier, and were unable to enter the vehicle to render aid to the victims because of the extensive damage.
The male driver and his female passenger, a Renton resident, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to WSP, neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
No further information has been released at this time.
