KING COUNTY, WA — Two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 202 in east Redmond, according to Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred on a span of SR-202 just east of 238th Avenue Northeast shortly before 4:00 p.m.

According to WSP, a 16-year-old boy was speeding westbound in a 2003 Chevy Tahoe while a 46-year-old woman was driving eastbound in a 2006 Hyundai Genesis. At one point, the teen driver crossed the center line and struck the Hyundai head-on. The Chevy Tahoe came to a stop on the eastbound shoulder while the Hyundai came to rest roadway, blocking eastbound traffic.

Both drivers were transported to Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue with undisclosed injuries.

No information has been released on their conditions, but authorities noted both victims were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

According to WSP, the teen driver faces a charge of vehicular assault.

Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and were towed from the scene.
