SEATTLE, WA — A man was seriously injured Friday afternoon when a waste management truck crashed into a residence in Seattle’s Rainier Vista neighborhood, according to Seattle Fire Department.

The incident took place in the 4100 block of Cascadia Avenue South, near Hawthorne Elementary School. It was first reported by Seattle Fire shortly before 1:30 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what caused the recycling/garbage truck to strike the home, but authorities said a male occupant from the truck was evaluated and then transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

No one else in the truck or in the affected home was reported injured.

Fire crews said the house remained intact, but nearby electrical lines were impacted.

No further information has been released at this time.
