The crash happened on the southbound lanes of I-5 just north of Iowa Street. It was first reported by WSDOT shortly before noon.
Authorities initially reported one left lane closed, but by 12:17 p.m., two right lanes were blocked.
Washington State Patrol and fire crews responded to the scene where the big rig appeared to run off the roadway and flipped over the concrete barrier along the right hand shoulder.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m., a tow truck had arrived on the scene to begin clearing the wreckage. Authorities anticipated a traffic backup nearly six miles long as crews worked the scene.
Update: Tow is now on scene, we are back to three lanes blocking as we work to clear the lanes. Drive safely and remember to give space to emergency vehicles!
