JEFFERSON COUNTY, WA — A 39-year-old Oregon man died Thursday morning from injuries sustained last week in a crash on U.S. Highway 101 near Quilcene, according to The Leader.
Washington State Patrol said the fatal collision occurred on the southbound lanes of US-101 near milepost 300 on October 14, shortly after 3:00 a.m.
The victim was driving a 2003 Ford Escape south when he lost control of the vehicle at a sharp curve. The Ford ran off the roadway and into a ditch on the south side. It then returned to the highway, traveled across both lanes and spun before slamming into a large tree by a ditch on the other side of the highway.
Medics transported the driver to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died a week later.
WSP said they believe impairment contributed to the fatal collision.
