by | Oct 8, 2021 | Accidents in the News |

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A semi-truck fire Friday morning closed two right lanes on Interstate 5 in Dupont, according to Trooper Robert Reyer with Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of the interstate at Center Drive near milepost 118. It was first reported by WSP at 7:24 a.m.

It is unclear what led up to the fire, but authorities confirmed no injuries were sustained.

State troopers, Washington State Department of Transportation crews, and firefighters responded to the scene, causing delays for morning commuters.

A preliminary investigation suggests the incident began with a brake fire in the truck, which was hauling a trailer loaded with mattresses.
