KING COUNTY, WA — A vehicle accident Monday morning blocked the HOV and two left lanes on Interstate 5 near Federal Way, according to Washington State Department of Transportation.

The crash happened on the northbound lanes of the interstate near South 272nd Street and was first reported by WSDOT at 5:55 a.m.

Police and emergency crews were seen responding to the scene, causing a six-mile backup that reached the King-Pierce County line shortly before 7:00 a.m.

Authorities said the delays were a result of the collision and motorists heading toward State Route 18.

By 7:23 a.m., the scene was reported cleared with all lanes reopened to traffic.
