KING COUNTY, WA — A 58-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after a two-car crash involving a hit-and-run driver near Shoreline, according to Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred on State Route 523 near Meridian Avenue North just north of Seattle at around 4:52 p.m.

WSP said the victim was driving a gray 2007 Toyota Yaris westbound on the highway and had stopped at a lighted intersection. When the light turned yellow, he proceeded to turn left onto Meridian Avenue when his car was struck by a speeding 2007 BMW. Both vehicles came to a rest in the roadway.

Soon after the collision, the driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot. It is unclear in the WSP crash report whether the BMW’s sole passenger accompanied the driver.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to Harborview Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

No further information has been released at this time.
