PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Two people died early Sunday morning in a collision involving two vehicles in the South End neighborhood of Tacoma, according to Tacoma Police Department.

The crash happened near the intersection of South 72nd Street and Yakima Avenue and was reported by Tacoma Police at 12:25 a.m.
Motorists were asked to detour around the area as investigators responded to the incident.
The previously closed road was reopened at 5:37 a.m.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. that afternoon, Tacoma Police said the causing driver had been arrested under two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault.
