News: Pedestrian killed in train crash in downtown Kent

KING COUNTY, WA — A pedestrian was fatally struck Thursday afternoon in a freight train crash near the Scenic Hill neighborhood in downtown Kent, according to KIRO 7 News.

Emergency personnel responded to the accident in an area between South 259th Street to James Street shortly before 3:23 p.m.

According to Puget Sound Fire, the victim died at the scene.

All roads between South 259th Street and James Street were expected to remain closed for 1.5 hours to accommodate an investigation.

Drivers were told to use South 212th Street or South 277th Street to detour around the stopped train.

No further information has been disclosed on the person killed or the circumstances behind the incident.
