THURSTON COUNTY, WA — A 37-year-old man was injured Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle collision while trying to evade a Washington State Patrol trooper on Interstate 5 in Lacey, according to KOMO News.

WSP had received reports of a motorcyclist recklessly driving in the northbound lanes of I-5 before a trooper saw the rider traveling on the highway’s shoulder.

As the trooper switched on emergency lights while following the motorcyclist, the rider traveled into the median, struck a cable barrier and wrecked his bike.

The rider suffered multiple injuries as a result of the crash, including broken ribs, a broken foot, and a concussion.

Authorities said the rider was also arrested for suspected DUI.
