News: Trucks catch fire after collision on Highway 18 near Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, WA — Two trucks caught fire Tuesday afternoon after colliding on Highway 18 near Federal Way, according to KIRO 7 News.

The crash, which involved a semi-truck and a pickup truck, happened near the exit to Interstate 5 at approximately 1:30 p.m.

The incident caused a large fire to erupt in both vehicles. Video footage taken by a passerby and shared by Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson shows large dark clouds of smoke wafting from the wreck.

Occupants of both vehicles were reported safe, having suffered injuries considered non-life threatening.

By 2:30 p.m., the fire was said to be mostly contained.

Previously-closed westbound and eastbound lanes on SR-18 were both reopened by around 4:00 p.m.
