TACOMA, WA — A driver was in critical condition late Monday night after a vehicle collided with a road barrier on Interstate 5 southbound in Tacoma, according to Trooper Robert Reyer with Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred on the ramp connecting I-5 southbound to Interstate 705 near the state Route 7 extension. It was first reported by WSP shortly before 11:00 p.m.
The driver was reported critically injured and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The incident left the ramp to I-705 and Sr-7 extension completely blocked. Motorists in the area were instructed to detour through alternate routes.
