News: Bicyclist injured by trailer along Highway 20 in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND, WA — A 76-year-old bicyclist suffered injuries Monday morning after he was truck by a trailer pulled by a pickup truck on Highway 20 in Port Townsend, according to The Leader.

The bicyclist was riding along the highway’s eastern shoulder shortly before 11:00 a.m. when an eastbound 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck pulling a trailer drove by. As the truck was passing, something in the trailer struck and injured the bicyclist, according to Washington State Patrol.

The rider was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not reported.

The truck driver, an 81-year-old man, was not hurt in the incident.

Authorities were investigating the crash Monday afternoon.
