LYNNWOOD, WA — A five-car crash on I-5 northbound in Lynnwood Thursday morning left four people injured, according to King 5.

The crash was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) around 3:30 a.m. and occurred in an area of I-5 northbound just south of 44th Avenue West.

Following the collision, two people were transported to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center where they are in serious condition, says the Washington State Patrol (WSP). The other two victims were taken to Swedish Medical Center for treatment.

Initial reports suggest that the driver at fault was “driving erratically” prior to the crash, according to WSP Trooper Rocky Oliphant.

The incident left four left lanes on I-5 northbound blocked by 5 a.m., causing traffic to back up for over a mile, extending past the 220th Street SW exit in Mountlake Terrace by 7 a.m.

All lanes were cleared as of 8:30 a.m.
