AUBURN, WA – Authorities have identified the driver arrested after a previously reported head-on collision on State Route 18 near Auburn last Thursday night.

According to the Auburn Reporter, 911 dispatchers were initially alerted of a vehicle driving the wrong way on eastbound SR-18 around 7:27 p.m.

Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol said the minivan crashed head-on into an eastbound Honda Odyssey near the Auburn-Black Diamond Road intersection. The suspect vehicle rolled over and came to a stop in the intersections’s gore point. The Odyssey collided with a barrier before rolling over and catching fire.

The driver of the Odyssey was the only occupant and was declared deceased at the scene.

The 39-year-old male driver of the suspect minivan was identified as Jared S. Pasley of Lakebay. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Johnson said Pasley will be arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide. It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident.
