News: One dead after high speed collision on Canyon Road in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, WA – Officials with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office say one person was killed in a high speed collision on Canyon Road East in Puyallup.

According to FOX 13, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. at the at 128th Street East intersection.

Witnesses told authorities that a vehicle was attempting to turn onto 128th St E, when a second vehicle crashed into its rear end at a high speed, potentially over 100 mph.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Darren Moss said the suspect vehicle lost control after hitting a bump in the road and ended up on top of the victim’s vehicle,

The driver of the turning vehicle, a 31-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in her vehicle.

The 32-year-old man driving the second car sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police arrested him on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

At this time, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role.
