News: Motorcyclist seriously injured after collision with vehicle on SR-162 near Orting

PIERCE COUNTY, WA – Troopers with the Washington State Patrol reported a serious injury collision involving a motorcycle and vehicle on State Route 162 East near Orting on Sunday night.

According to WSP’s tweet, the crash happened just before 4 p.m, at mile marker 12 just east of Orting.

Trooper Ryan Burke arrived at the scene and provided an update. The motorcyclist had been was following slower traffic, when he tried to speed around to pass it. He sideswiped the vehicle in front of him before careening into a mailbox at a high speed.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a local hospital, where his condition was stabilized in surgery.
