LYNNWOOD, WA – According to MLT News, troopers with the Washington State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash on an Interstate 5 on-ramp in Lynnwood on Thursday morning.

The collision reportedly occurred at about 11:30 a.m. at the 44th Avenue ramp to southbound I-5.

When responders arrived, they discovered a 35-year-old male driver from Shoreline had lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a light pole, which caused it to fall on the vehicle.

South County spokesperson Leslie Hynes said emergency crews worked for 16 minutes to extricate the trapped driver. He was then taken to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The WSP is still investigating the cause of the accident, though preliminary evidence suggests speeding may have contributed.

Trooper Rocky Oliphant said the man will likely be issued a speeding ticket, though officers hope to speak with him to learn more about the incident.
