SEATTLE, WA – According to Westside Seattle, officials have released more information regarding the previously reported collisions involving a fleeing RV in West Seattle on Monday.

The incident began shortly after 2:30 p.m., when an officer attempted to pull over an RV driver near the intersection of Delridge Way SW and SW Andover Street for running a red light.

After appearing to stop, the driver suddenly shifted into reverse and began fleeing westbound down a steep hill on Southwest Andover Street. The RV narrowly avoided the officer’s car before slamming into an eastbound SUV traveling up the hill. The RV then continued in reverse to the Delridge Way SW intersection, where it sideswiped a tanker truck before hitting a 79-year-old male pedestrian.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and treated the pedestrian and the SUV driver. The pedestrian reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The female driver did not require hospitalization.

After crashing into a building near the intersection, the RV driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested.

Officers found that the 47-year-old male suspect was already wanted for reckless endangerment, theft of a motor vehicle, and domestic violence-related assault. Additionally, police began a DUI investigation after finding narcotics in his possession.

He was then booked into King County Jail on charges of vehicular assault, hit and run, eluding, illegal possession of narcotics, and his warrants.
