TACOMA, WA – An 18-year-old driver was hospitalized with serious injuries following a train-vs-vehicle crash Monday night.

According to the Tacoma Police Department, officers and fire crews were at the scene within the 1700 block of Marine View Drive by 8:50 a.m.

This portion of Marine View Dr. was shut down until about 12:27 a.m., when the roadway was reopened after an investigation by the department’s collision team. Police also confirmed the victim was in serious, but stable, condition.

No information regarding what may have led up to the crash has been made available at this time.

Train-vs-vehicle accidents can be extremely dangerous due to the train’s massive size and inability to slow down quickly. All it can take is an inoperative crossing sign or an inattentive engineer to cause devastating collisions. Have you or a loved one been affected by such an accident?
