YELM, WA – According to The Daily Chronicle, the 30-year-old woman who was killed in a collision on State Route 702 near Yelm on Saturday has been identified.

Washington State Patrol provided an update Tuesday stating the Pierce County Medical Examiner had identified the victim as Sally C. Rouse of Puyallup.

Officials say Rouse was traveling north on Eighth Avenue South with a 7-year-old girl when they came to a stop at the SR-702 intersection around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The car then attempted to cross the highway but was hit by a vehicle traveling west on SR-702.

Rouse was pronounced dead at the scene. The 7-year-old girl was transported to a nearby hospital but later died.

State Patrol said the two men in the other vehicle were not injured.

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. We will update this blog if more details are given.
