YAKIMA, WA – A Yakima woman is now in a Seattle hospital following an accident Friday afternoon.

28-year-old Samantha Spencer was walking in the 1800 block of Gordon Road when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 55-year-old Yakima man who has not yet been identified. The driver fled but police followed and arrested him.

Yakima Police believe the driver hit a second pedestrian as well, although the victim received only minor injures and refused medical treatment.

Yakima police told News Talk Kit that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants at the time of the accident.

Spencer is recovering at Harborview Medical Center.
