LAKEWOOD, WA – Two troopers have been hospitalized after colliding with each other while responding to a separate collision on I-5 early Thursday morning.
According to Q13 Fox, the accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. as two troopers were responding to a collision in which a driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit a guard rail north of Berkeley Avenue.
Seconds after the first trooper made it to the crash site, the second pulled up at a high rate of speed, colliding with the first cruiser and forcing it into the back of the already crashed passenger vehicle.
Both troopers were transported to St. Claire Hospital in Lakewood to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. The driver who fell asleep at the wheel was uninjured.
