News: Semi crash catches fire, blocks express lanes on southbound I-5

SEATTLE, WA – A semi truck crash resulted in a fire and explosion on southbound I-5 on Sunday morning.

According to KIRO 7 News, the incident occurred in the express lanes of southbound I-5 north of Stewart Street. Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. They tweeted they put out several hot spots as part of their efforts.

The driver of the semi managed to escape before the fire engulfed the truck. He was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
