SPOKANE, WA – Troopers with the Washington State Patrol were forced to shut down several lanes on I-90 following a fatal crash Friday afternoon.

According to the Spokesman, the accident occurred at about 1 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-90 near the Altamont Street exit.

Officials at the scene say one person was killed and another vehicle had caught fire. However, they have not released any information regarding the cause of the crash or if any other injuries were sustained as a result.

The collision forced troopers to block off all westbound lanes, only allowing traffic to pass through on the shoulder. The lanes have since been reopened.
