BREMERTON, WA – A suspected DUI driver drove the wrong way on northbound State Route 3 and collided with a patrol car on Friday evening.

According to Kiro 7, the wrong-way collision occurred on Northbound State Route 3 at around 11:02 p.m., shortly after the southbound driver entered the highway at the Chico Way exit.

Local authorities reported the driver was arrested for DUI. In the photos tweeted by Washington State Patrol District 8, it appears the DUI suspect was driving a Jeep SUV.

KOMO News reports the DUI suspect struck a patrol car. Trooper Alan Dixon received a call about an erratic driver on Northbound State Route 3. He tracked their headlights and got in front of the car in the opposite direction. The driver did slow down when Trooper Dixon turned on his emergency lights, but the two cars still collided head-on.

Trooper Dixon sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Michael Medical Center.
