Motorcyclist killed by pickup blocks away from home

In Washington and other states across the nation, the summer months mean spending more time outdoors. While this can mean going to the park, lake or pool, it could also mean enjoying a ride. Motorcyclists tend to put in the most miles during the warmer months. Although motorists tend to notice the increase of bikers on the roadways, some motorists fail to take added precautions. This could result in a serious or even fatal accident.

According to recent reports, a motorcyclist was fatally struck by a pickup truck in Seattle. The accident occurred just a few blocks away from the 22-year-old’s home. Police believe that the crash occurred when the driver of a pickup was making a left turn and struck the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital following the collision; however, two days later, he succumbed to his injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the pickup truck was not impaired at the time of the crash.

A motorcycle crash is one of the most severe automobile collisions on the roadways. Victims of these crashes are likely to suffer serious injuries because motorcyclists do not have the protections passenger vehicles do. The loss of a loved one in a motorcycle accident can be difficult and overwhelming; however, a civil action, such as a wrongful death claim, could offset the financial harm caused by the crash. This could help address medical bills, funeral costs, pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of companionship and other related losses.
