Pedestrian fatally struck in Seattle crash

While individuals in Washington and other states across the nation often stay indoors during cold and inclement weather, the roads are still filled with vehicles. In addition to motorists heading out in the wintertime, pedestrians are also seen. Whether it is in a parking lot, sidewalk, cross walk or residential area, pedestrians can be observed year-round. This makes it vital for motorists to be aware and drive with caution. Nonetheless, pedestrian accidents still occur, causing serious and sometimes fatal injuries to victims.

How frequently do fatal school bus accidents occur?

While school is in session, parents in Washington and other states across the nation often send their child to and from school on a school bus. While these are convenient forms of transportation, they also have some risks and dangers like any form of transportation. Unlike passenger vehicles, school buses are not equipped with seatbelt. Thus, when a school bus gets into a collision, students are often thrown about the vehicle. This could result in serious or fatal injuries, especially if the bus was filled with student passengers at the time of the bus crash.

Ride the Ducks trial underway in Seattle

A trial in the Seattle area is bringing back memories of a terrible accident involving a Ride the Ducks amphibious vehicle and a charter bus. The accident happened in 2015 on a bridge in the area that both the State of Washington and the City have some responsibility. An axle broke off the Ride the Ducks vehicle, sending it across the center and in to the oncoming bus that was full of college students. Five people died in the accident, and over 60 people suffered injuries that were significant enough to be reported.

Parking lot crashes increase during the holidays

One thing that goes with the holiday season is shopping. While many residents in Washington State and elsewhere turn to online shopping to take care of their gift list, many still drive to stores and purchase items in person. Because of this, malls and other major stores are still filled with vehicles. Most consider the drive to and from the store or mall to be the most dangerous, but many forget how dangerous parking lots can be.
