Cars, trucks and other motor vehicles have a lot of safety features that help to keep people safe in case of an accident. These include seat belts, air bags, safety glass and more. These features have been tested and are constantly improved to help give people maximum protection while driving.
Pedestrians, on the other hand, do not have this luxury. People, particularly children, are vulnerable to the drivers around them. People can only hope that drivers are paying attention to those around them and don’t cause an auto-pedestrian accident. Unfortunately, many drivers are not careful and people get hurt.
Recently, a Washington girl was critically injured when she was hit by a school bus. According to reports, the 13-year-old girl was in a crosswalk near her home around 7:45 a.m. when she was hit by a public school bus. The bus had been taking elementary students to school. Following the accident, the girl was taken to a local hospital and has since been listed in serious condition.
Police are still investigating the accident to try and determine how it occurred. The bus driver has been placed on leave following the pedestrian accident.
Like in this case, pedestrians often suffer serious injuries when hit by a motor vehicle. These injuries can lead to large medical bills, months or years of rehabilitation and permanent injuries.
