Man gets off bus then hit by car in Northeast Seattle

On Behalf of | Jun 21, 2013 | Auto-Pedestrian Accidents |

Many people rely on public transportation. Not only is it good for the environment, but it is also a great way to save for many commuters. With more commuters taking public transportation, such as buses, there are more pedestrians on or near busy roads. Unfortunately, that creates a higher chance of a pedestrian accident.

On the morning of June 12 an accident occurred in Northeast Seattle. At the corner of 35th Avenue NE and NE 75th Street a man got off of a commuter bus, and when he descended the bus stairs and ventured out into the street he proceeded to cross traffic on 35th Avenue and was struck by a car. The man was severely injured and was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery. The driver was evaluated at the scene and did not show any signs of drug or alcohol abuse.

When someone is involved in an auto-pedestrian accident and considering filing a claim for personal injury there are certain materials that should be gathered. It is important to first write down or dictate what happened in the accident. It is important to include any subsequent wages lost or injuries suffered as well. Next, getting in touch with any witnesses from the scene is a priority, or if that is not possible writing down any conversations that occurred at the scene can help. Taking photos of any damages or injuries is also helpful to serve as proof of the damages in the claim.

Accidents involving pedestrians and vehicles often result in catastrophic injuries. Damages may be available to cover medical expenses as well as pain and suffering.
