Seattle boy, 3, in serious condition after being hit by car

On Behalf of | Jun 29, 2012 | Auto-Pedestrian Accidents |

A 3-year-old Seattle boy remained in serious condition yesterday, one day after he was struck by a car while riding his scooter in front of his apartment building, according to KOMONews.com.

The car accident took place Wednesday afternoon just before 2 p.m. when the boy was riding a “Razor” scooter on the sidewalk. A police investigation found that he emerged into the street through two parked cars when he was struck by a car. The driver, a 41-year-old woman, did stop her car after it hit the boy.

Police do not believe that the woman was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident, but it has not been reported whether she could have avoided hitting the child. The investigation is ongoing at this time, and it is unknown whether she will face any charges or traffic infractions in relation to the car accident.

When a car accident results in serious injuries in Seattle, it can be wise to work with a car accident lawyer. An experienced car accident attorney will help victims recover compensation to pay for their medical expenses and ongoing rehabilitative expenses, among other things. When a child is injured in an auto accident, the rehabilitation process can be very long and expensive.

If another party, such as a driver, was negligent and caused a car accident it can be possible to file a personal injury lawsuit. If they were uninsured or underinsured, or negligence did not lead to the accident, a car accident attorney will help recover compensation from the victim’s insurance company in some cases.
