Cement truck causes massive traffic problems on I-5

There are many different types of motor vehicles on Seattle’s busy roads and highways. Recently, a cement truck rolled over on I-5 during morning rush hour traffic, causing numerous delays and backups.

After flipping over into traffic, the cement truck spilled some of its cement load onto the highway. The accident occurred just after 8 a.m. on I-5 near the overpass for East Roanoke Street.

Roads closed for hours

The crash shut down roads, including the westbound SR 530 ramp to I-5 north. The Washington State Department of Transportation closed the two lanes heading north shortly after the rollover, and eventually closed all the lanes to allow the crews to clean up the accident site.

A tow truck was dispatched to remove the cement truck from the highway. The impact of this accident caused extensive delays, some lasting for more than 2 hours.

The cause of the rollover is unknown

There was no information provided on what caused the cement truck to roll over; however, many times, accidents such as these are caused by a driver’s negligence.
