INDEX, WA — A 6-year-old boy was hospitalized with critical injuries Sunday evening after being struck by a falling rock at the Index Town Walls climbing area northeast of Seattle, according to KOMO News.
Chief Eric Andrews with Snohomish County Fire District 26 said the boy was at a designated lower part of the Index Town Walls shortly after 5:00 p.m. when a climber above him kicked a rock loose, causing the rock to fall and strike the boy below.
The injured boy was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center. As of Monday morning, he remained in critical condition.
