Injuries from car accidents can range from mild to severe

Although many of the personal vehicles that Washington residents drive are equipped with the latest and best safety features on the market, it is still possible for victims of car accidents to suffer a range of injuries. This post does not offer any medical or legal advice to its readers, but, rather, introduces them to some of the types of harm that commonly afflict individuals who are hurt in car crashes.

Any part of a person’s body can suffer harm in a vehicle accident, and one area that can sustain serious trauma during a collision is the head. When a victim’s head hits an internal surface on their car, they may suffer brain trauma. Traumatic brain injuries are linked to pain, cognitive issues, sensory problems, and many other serious health concerns.

Whiplash and neck injuries can also occur when vehicles crash. Muscle strain and broken bones are not uncommon injuries in car accidents, nor are scrapes, burns, cuts, and bruises. Depending on the type and severity of an impact, a victim may suffer internal injuries or even internal bleeding.

Not all car accident injuries are readily apparent immediately after a collision. Therefore, it is important that victims seek medical help to identify and document the harm they suffered when involved in an accident. The evidence they gain from their doctors, as well as the treatments and procedures they require to heal, may be used to demonstrate their losses and serve as the bases for damages when they sue for recovery of their losses.
