Bicyclist seriously injured in collision with motorcyclist

There are many ways to get around Washington State. Some choose motor vehicles, other ride on their bikes while some decide walking by foot is the best way for them to get around. No mater what mode of transportation a person uses, there are some risks that come with each and every type. For those riding a bike, he or she is likely traveling along with traffic. Whether this is in a bike lane or not, this requires motorists to be aware of their presence. Failure to do so could have tragic results.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a bicycle accident recently occurred. The crash occurred in Lynnwood and involved a cyclist and a motorcyclist. The crash occurred on Highway 99, just south of 156th Street SW, and it happened around 11:30 p.m.

Authorities indicated that a motorcyclist on a Harley Davidson was heading southbound on Highway 99 in lane 3 or 3. A was crossing the southbound lanes traveling east to west, traveling into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision. The cyclist was badly injured and 49-year-old female was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Also injured was the 52-year-old motorcyclist, who was later booked in jail.

Investigation is still ongoing for this crash, and Washington State authorities have charges pending against the motorcyclist. It is not clear at this time what the charges are or what the presumed cause of the crash are. Following the completion of the investigation, the cause and liability of the crash could be established. This could help a victim of the crash pursue a civil action for losses suffered.
