With fall in full swing, the motorcycle season is coming to a close. For many motorcyclists, that means hitting the road while the weather cooperates. But, unfortunately, some of these cruises will not end well. Take, for example, a recent motorcycle accident on the West Seattle Bridge.
The motorcyclist crashed on the bridge with the force of the accident sending him falling off the bridge and onto East Marginal Way Southwest. The crash and subsequent fall ultimately killed the motorcyclist. Thus far, investigators have not issued an official report. But, at least one investigator has unofficially suggested that speeding was the cause.
The motorcyclist’s family is not buying the preliminary indication. They think that the motorcyclist was rear-ended or hit by another car. They believe that because the motorcyclist was an experienced and responsible rider who advocated for safe riding. They also point out that the damage to the motorcyclist’s bike is not consistent with speeding.
Until an official report is released, dueling explanations for the crash exit. But, regardless of who is right, the accident underscores an important reality: Driving a motorcycle can be a dangerous endeavor that can lead to significant injuries or even death. Washington residents who suffer these consequences can expect significant medical bills for not only their immediate medical treatment, but also for ongoing care like physical therapy.
When these injuries are the result of another driver’s negligence, Washington residents may want to consider filing a personal injury lawsuit. Doing so can not only hold the responsible party accountable, but also provide financial compensation.
