Matt talks about injuries to children

Recently I was interviewed by Michael Swanson, author of “How David Beats Goliath,” regarding strategies for handling claims involving injuries to children.

In some ways, injury claims involving children are just like any other injury claim, but there are some differences that can get you into trouble if you aren’t looking out for them.

First, children often require different kinds of medical treatment than adults. Finding the right health care provider could help your child recover from his injuries more quickly and can help reduce the risk of long term consequences.

Next, cases involving children often require special kinds of expert witnesses. Whether it’s a case involving inadequate supervision at day care, poorly designed playground equipment, or a dangerous condition that was left accessible to children, the right expert witness can make the difference between a winning case and no case at all.

Finally, if you do manage to negotiate a settlement of your claim involving a child, that settlement will most likely need to be reviewed and approved by a judge. This process can add expense and delay to the final resolution of the case if not handled correctly.
