Motorcycle involved in accident after driver runs red

As spring heats up in Washington many motorcyclists are happy to hit the open road once again. However, motorcyclists should be aware that many drivers are not aware of their presence. Some drivers in the Seattle area do not pay attention to these smaller vehicles which increases the possibility of an accident. In a motorcycle accident, motorcyclists are extremely susceptible to injuries since their vehicles offer so little protection.

An early evening accident in West Seattle recently involved three motor vehicles including a motorcycle. In this accident, a driver was driving north on Fauntleroy Way and entered the intersection with Alaska on a green light. As she entered the intersection, a car traveling east on Alaska drove through a red light and hit the first car.

As a result of this collision, a motorcycle was also hit. The motorcyclist and the motorcycle’s passenger were thrown from the bike and smashed onto the windshield of the cars involved in the initial accident. In the collision, at least one person was seriously injured. The injured woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

When a motorcycle accident causes injuries, some people might be quick to blame a motorcyclist. However, in many situations negligent drivers are to blame. If a negligent driver causes a motorcycle accident, people can be left with severe and traumatic injuries. Anything from broken bones to head injuries and spinal cord injuries are possible. In these cases, negligent drivers can be held accountable for their actions in a personal injury lawsuit, and motorcyclists can receive compensation for the injuries they have suffered.
